about.

Elijah Innes [b. 1998] is a writer and artist making on unceded Gadigal land.

Innes explores intimate touches, recording their ephemerality through mark-making developed through printmaking and sculptural practices. They weave the biographical throughout all aspects of their practice, across writing and art making, leaving residues of personal history within each outcome. Predicated on the body as a complex site of exploration, their practice meditates on the sacrifices, rewards and magic of corporeality.
Queerness forever contextualises, and is interpolated in, their work. It becomes a life-giving source of endless love, confusion and joy that continues to be the essence of their work.
